Remove color from image
Remove one color from an image across the whole picture and turn it into transparency. Good for flat graphics, icons and screenshots with a solid color behind them. Click the color, set the tolerance, download the PNG. Free and in your browser.
How to remove a color from an image

What happens to your files
- Nothing is uploaded.The color is removed by your browser, and the image stays on your device.
- Everywhere in the image.By default every pixel close to your color goes, not only the area around the click.
- More than one color.Shift-click adds further colors, and each one can be brought back from the list.
What you can do
- Click a color and every pixel near it, anywhere in the image, becomes transparent. That also clears a color that appears in several separate places, such as the holes of a letter.
- "Tolerance" runs from 0 to 120 and starts at 40. At 0 only exactly that color goes, higher values take in lighter and darker shades.
- Shift, Ctrl or Cmd plus click adds more colors. "Colors removed" lists them, and "Bring this color back" (the ×) restores one.
- Tick "Only the area connected to my click" to limit the removal to the area touching your click, or "Trim empty edges" to crop the transparent border.
Good to know
- It handles one image at a time, and the download is a PNG named like your file with "-transparent" added.
- If the color also appears in the subject you want to keep, tick "Only the area connected to my click".
- Antialiased edges hold in-between shades. A little more tolerance removes the halo, too much takes parts of the subject with it.
Questions
How do I remove a color from an image?
Open the image, click the color you want gone and download the PNG. That color is now transparent, in the whole picture.
What does the tolerance slider do?
It sets how close in color a pixel must be to the one you clicked. A low value takes only that exact shade, a high one takes similar shades too.
Can I remove several colors at once?
Yes. Hold Shift (or Ctrl, or Cmd on a Mac) while clicking. The tool lists each color it removes.
Does it work on photos?
It works, but a photo has thousands of shades. For a photo, use the AI background remover instead.
