What happens to your files

What you can do
- Open an image and the white is cleared right away, starting from the four corners and spreading through every connected white or near-white pixel.
- "Tolerance" (0 to 120, starts at 40) decides how close to white a pixel must be. Raise it for gray-white paper or a light shadow.
- Untick "Only the area connected to my click" to clear every white pixel in the image, also islands the edge does not reach, such as the inside of an O.
- Click any other color in the image to remove that one instead, or Shift-click to remove it too. "Start over" returns to plain white.
- Tick "Trim empty edges" to crop the empty border off the PNG.
Good to know
- It handles one image at a time. The download is a PNG named like your file with "-transparent" added, also when you open a JPG.
- A JPG has noise around its edges, so white paper is rarely pure white. A higher tolerance usually fixes that.
- Light parts of the subject, like a white label touching the edge, can be removed with the background. Lower the tolerance if that happens. There is no brush here, so for tricky photos use the AI remover.
Questions
How do I remove a white background from an image?
Open the image. The white is cleared at once. Adjust "Tolerance" if some off-white remains, then download the PNG.
Why is the white inside my object still there?
That is on purpose. Only white that connects to the image edge is removed, so white inside the subject stays. Untick "Only the area connected to my click" to clear all of it.
Does this work with a JPG?
Yes. Any image your browser can open works. The result is saved as a PNG, because only PNG can be transparent.
Is there a limit on the size?
The tool sets none. Large images are limited only by the memory of your device.
