What you get

  • A is 1, Z is 26.Each number from 1 to 26 becomes the matching letter of the alphabet.
  • Result as you type.No button to press, the result changes with every keystroke.
  • Nothing is uploaded. The conversion runs in your browser, the text stays on your device.

What you can do

  • Turn numbers joined by hyphens into letters: 8-5-12-12-15 gives hello.
  • Keep words apart: separate the words with a space and the result has spaces too.
  • Decode puzzle, escape room and geocaching codes that use A=1, B=2 and so on.

Good to know

  • Put a hyphen between the letters of a word and a space between words. Numbers with no hyphen are not split.
  • The result is always lowercase, the original capitals cannot be recovered.
  • Only the numbers 1 to 26 give letters. Other numbers do not give a letter.

Questions

What is A1Z26?

A simple cipher where each letter is replaced by its place in the alphabet: A is 1, B is 2, up to Z, which is 26.

How do I mark where a word ends?

Write a space between words and a hyphen between the numbers of one word, for example 8-9 20-8-5-18-5.

Does it work with capital letters?

The result is lowercase. A1Z26 only stores the letter, so the case of the original text is lost.
