Logo to transparent PNG
Turn a scan or photo of a logo into a transparent PNG. The plain paper behind it is cleared and the logo stays, ready to put on a website, a slide or a letterhead. Free, online, and the file stays in your browser.
How to make a logo a transparent PNG
- 1Drop in the logo scan or photo, or click to choose it
- 2Raise "Tolerance" until the paper is gone
- 3Tick "Trim empty edges" and download the PNG
- A logo PNG on a transparent background.
What happens to your files
- Your logo is not uploaded. The background is cleared by your browser, on your own device.
- Made for white paper.White is picked for you and cleared from the edges inward, so white inside the logo stays.
- Cropped to the logo.Trimming cuts the empty border, so the logo lines up when you place it.
What you can do
- Clear a white or light background from a scanned or photographed logo. The clearing starts at the four corners and stops at the logo, so enclosed white (the inside of an O) is kept.
- Set "Tolerance" (0 to 120, starts at 40) high enough to take in gray paper, scanner shading and JPG noise.
- Untick "Only the area connected to my click" if white areas inside the logo should go as well.
- Click a color in the image to clear that color instead, for a logo on a colored background, and Shift-click for more.
- Tick "Trim empty edges" to crop away the transparent margin when you download.
Good to know
- It removes the background color only. It does not redraw, sharpen or vectorize the logo, so a rough scan stays rough.
- A logo with soft edges or a shadow keeps a faint light fringe. A little more tolerance helps, and a scan at a higher resolution helps more.
- It handles one file at a time and saves a PNG named like your file plus "-transparent". For a black background use the black version of this tool.
Questions
How do I make a logo transparent?
Open the scan or photo, adjust "Tolerance" until the paper is gone, tick "Trim empty edges" and download the PNG.
Why does my logo have a light fringe?
Edge pixels are a mix of the logo and the paper. Raise "Tolerance" slightly, or scan at a higher resolution.
Does it turn the logo into a vector?
No. The result is a PNG made of pixels. To scale it up cleanly you need a vector file.
Is the logo sent to a server?
No. Nothing is uploaded, the work is done in your browser.
