See which words a text uses most, free and online. Paste your text and get the 15 most-used words with how often each appears. Nothing is uploaded: your browser does the counting.

How to count word frequency

  1. 1Paste or type your text into the box
  2. 2Look at "Most-used words" below the numbers
  3. 3Edit the text and the list updates as you type
  4. The 15 most-used words, with counts.

What you get

  • Top 15 by count. Each line shows a word and how many times it appears, most frequent first.
  • Short words are left out.Words of one or two letters, like "a" or "to", are not listed.
  • Nothing is uploaded. The text is analysed in your browser and stays on your device.

What you can do

  • Find the words you repeat too often in an essay, article or product text.
  • Spot the main themes of a text from its most frequent words.
  • See word count, unique words and reading time for the same text.

Good to know

  • Only the 15 most-used words are shown, and only words of three letters or more. There is no way to see the full list.
  • Capitals are ignored: "The" and "the" are added together. Different forms such as "walk" and "walked" are separate.
  • Common words like "the" or "and" are not filtered out, so they often top the list.
